I have made a few prints of my paintings as well as a some entirely developed for print.
Fine art printmaking creates limited edition prints where each print has its own quirks and individualities, hence they are referred to as original prints. I made between 8 and 30 of each of these prints.
A reductive lino-print is where you re-print another colour over the previous print after cleaning and cutting away a bit more of the lino. This is then repeated several times to build up the picture. The print becomes unique not only from the variations with each print, but because you have physically cut away the previous image to print the next colour.
I like the flat colour and crispness achievable with printmaking.
